Russell Hinton - Founder

In 1895 the founder of our company, Russell Hinton, began his career as a desk polisher in San Francisco. Over time and during his travels, Mr. Hinton imported European craftsmen who displayed innovative and unique painting techniques. Since 1965, current owner and President, Bob Mengarelli has taken this company and made it into a full service, premier painting and decorating firm with standards of quality surpassing it's competitors. Throughout the years, Russell Hinton Company, Inc. has participated in numerous high profile commercial and residential projects all over the San Francisco Bay Area.
 
In 1985, to add to an already established interiors division, Russell Hinton Company expanded its' operation by adding a new drywall division. This division offers all aspects of drywall, metal framing, rocking and taping for interior tenant improvements.
 
Russell Hinton Co. and its more than 80 skilled tradesmen are dedicated union employees with a passion for quality and perfection in their work. As a long time, well established painting and drywall firm, Russell Hinton Company has a highly reputable and respected standing in the San Francisco business community. We are also a member in good standing of the San Francisco chapter of BOMA, the Building Owners and Managers Association, and a member in good standing of NCPFC, Northern California Painting and Finishing Contractors, Inc.

Our Current Management Team

Robert Mengarelli - President

A seasoned veteran established in the painting and decorating industry since 1965. Starting as a sales representative for Russell Hinton Company, Bob developed work in the San Francisco downtown area for 13 years. In 1978, he became sole owner and President of Russell Hinton Company and over the years has acquired a wealth of experience in both the painting and drywall industry. Bob's associations include, former President of the San Francisco Easter Seals Society, served on the Board of Directors and current member of the exclusive men's club The Family, former member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Rotary Club, Marin Country Club and San Francisco BOMA as well as benefactor to numerous civic and non-profit organizations in the Bay Area.

Jordan Satrap - Estimator

A graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in Economics, Jordan spent 4 years working for San Francisco multi-national Real Estate Investment Trust as a project manager before coming to Russell Hinton Company in 2011. He is currently a painting and drywall estimator and a member of the San Francisco BOMA.

Stephen Maciejewski - Estimator

An experienced construction estimator who started in the interior construction industry in 1978. Attended Sacramento State University, graduating with a degree in Construction Management. Steve joined Russell Hinton Company in 1985 as director of the drywall division. Throughout his career, he has estimated, managed and supervised numerous projects all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

John Hawkins - Drywall & Painting Estimator

In the business for more than 38 years, John started with Russell Hinton in 1990 as a carpenter/drywaller. Retiring in 2005 he returned after 5 years as a project manager and estimator. John learned everything he knows in the field.

Donald Gordy - Industrial Coatings Specialist

Don has over 30-years industry experience with industrial, commercial and architectural coatings and application techniques. He is a Certified NACE Coating NACE Coating Inspector and resides in San Francisco. Don has worked as a coating professional in San Francisco, New York City, Cleveland and Chicago providing clients with practical and theoretical knowledge of coatings applications. Industry affiliations include the National Association of Corrosion Engineers and the Steel Structures Painting Counsel. Don enjoys golf and is a benefactor to Ducks Unlimited along with other non-profit organizations.

Rick Gaddini - Superintendent

Rick is a 27-year veteran of the painting industry, spending 18 of those years as a journeyman or foreman. Working at Russell Hinton since 1998, Rick was promoted to superintendent of the painting division in 2003 and maintains a staff of up to 60 journeyman painters.

Felix and Sally Soriano - Office & Accounting Managers

Longtime employees of Russell Hinton Company, husband and wife team Felix and Sally are our office and accounting managers.
